REWRITING THE TEXT SELF-ASSESSMENT

As a comment below, answer the following questions. Your response to these questions will be part of your grade on the final "Rewriting the Text" project:
1. What did you learn from completing this assignment?
2. How were your categories unique compared to classmates?
3. Are you pleased with how your project and presentation came out? Explain why or why not and be specific!
4. How does this project demonstrate what you have learned in Art Appreciation this semester?
5. In what ways do you APPRECIATE the world of ART more now than you did on the first day of class?

....okay so even though this doesn't count as a "blog assignment" I guess I was technically misleading you in the earlier post that stated the blogs had come to an end :-)

  1. 1.From this assignment, I learned that there are more details and aspects to artworks than I thought. Trying to come up with categories and being specific enough as well as broad enough to classify the artworks proved to be quite a task.
2.My categories thus far have been pretty unique. I chose to use different emotions, which is pretty different from the presentations I have seen. It seems everyone was pretty creative with their ideas.
3.I am pleased with the outcomes of my project and presentation. I chose to go outside of my comfort zone for both, which ended up being the right choices. I now know how to create a google site and a power point presentation. Even though, I was very nervous to do the presentation, I liked the way it went.
4.This project demonstrated what I have learned in that I was able to exhibit accurate criticisms of several artworks. Also, I have learned how to apply the use of space, color, texture, objects, shape by creating an artwork and a power point.
5.I appreciate the world of art more now that I have almost completed this course, just by the mere fact that it has opened my eyes. I now notice shape, contrast, texture, and other elements and principals in things I see everyday. I can appreciate the passion behind the artwork, as well as the hard work that went into it.

  2. 1. From completing this assignment, I learned from everyone elses projects that the book could be separted into many different parts. I also learned that an artwork can be categorized by many different aspects from shape, color, etc.

    2. I believe my categories were unique to everyone else because mine were simple and could be taught to children and adults of all ages because children are taught what shapes are at an early age. This would be easier for children to understand shapes in an artwork.

    3. I am pleased with the way my project turned out because you can find shapes in every artwork. I wish I would have had more examples and planned to have more material to present. 10 minutes goes by slower than I figured!

    4. This project helped me show what I have learned in Art Appreciation because before this class if my teacher would have assigned me this assignment then I would have had NO clue what to do. This really shows me that I have learned from this class.

    5. I have learned a great amount of information in this class and this makes me appreciate the world of art more. When I look at differnt artworks I can notice the different elements we have learned. I also have a better knowledge on what "art" really is. It's not just paintings and drawings like I has originally thought on the first day of class.

  3. 1. From completing this assignment I have learned that art is more complex then it looks. That a piece of artwork can mean many things depending on who is interpreting it at the time.

    2. I choose to use categories that based on things you see in every day life. Compared to everyone else categories it was about the same. Everyone picked pretty simple categories as well.

    3. I wouldn't say I was pleased with the outcome of my project. I feel like I could of done better if I had more time to think about it instead of just throwing it together within the first time of looking at the pictures.

    4. This project demonstrates what I have learned because it made me step back and think about the artwork and all the things that it could stand for by thinking about the colors, shapes, and texture used.

    5. I have learned that artwork is done out of emotions and not out of boredom. That behind every piece of artwork there is a story whether it be a sad or happy story. And that just because one person doesn't appreciate the artwork that someone else does.
