Here is an easy one but one that will come in handy in a couple of weeks IF you do it! Let's get a head start on documenting your "Creative Process" since you will have to explain it as part of your overall grade on this "Family Values" artwork. POST A COMMENT to this blog entry and answer the following questions:
1. Why did you choose the subject/message you have chosen for this artwork?
2. Where have you found inspiration for the style of artwork/technique you will use to create the finished artwork?
3. What kind of research have you done outside of finding reference photos?
Jim:
ReplyDelete1. On the first day of the subject, we were shown a selecton of shock posters. I chose to do one mself. The message chosen was that of a family so devoted to the destuction of another belief, so much that they would expend themselves with no resolve to a future goal other than that of the destruction of someone who believes differntly.
2. My inspiration came from the idealization of the perfect Americn family shown on television in the 1960's. "The Leave it to Beaver," show was a pinnacle of how the quintessential American family was to be portrayed, be it proper manners and behavior and ending with a life lesson to be learned at the end of the show. So I chose to do a poster portraying the "Cleavers" as a radical Islamic family were "Beaver" is the last male of the family set to sacrifice himself in the name of "Jihad," eventhough he may not understand what he is about to do. I chose the monochromatic color scheme of the black and white TV show and the bold black border and white print of the moivational posters we are used to seeing.
3. I used "Google Images" to find pictures from the show. Then I looked for pictures of child suicide bombers. The research done out side of the photos was primarily historical and or something I could have been exposed to when I served our military depoyed in Muslim countries.
1.I chose my subject because I wanted something that was funny, similar to what we had seen in class. My parents always talk about how people's values are for sale. So, I came up with the whole garage sale concept. Any value you want, dirt cheap! Only while supplies last! Limited to one value per customer. I dunno, I thought it was funny.
ReplyDelete2.I just really wanted to poke fun at society's loss of values. It seems like every time you turn on the tv, or open a magazine, there is some type of message that leads to corrupt thinking, according to my parents. Its a conspiracy, I know.
3.I used google images, and actually drove around town to see what people were really selling, and for what prices. I also did this to get a feel for how g-sales were set up. Other than that, my sociology class also had a hand in my research. Many of the values listed are similar to ones we listed on the board.
1.I chose my subject because its a personal reason for me. Its because my grandmother instealed the Holy Bible in me as a child. And now I have my own child I feel that its important to me and my husband to insteal it in our son life.
ReplyDelete2. I have found inspiration at my church, and many different Christian stores. This has given me some ideas omn this class assignment.
3. I have viewed the web as well as the christian stores.
1. I chose my subject because in the last 2 years it was rough. But I still made it through. Things shouldn't make you weak it should make you stronger.
ReplyDelete2. My inspiration is my daughter. Growing up was great and even through I had a hard time I didnt let it bring me down and stayed strong for her.
3. I have researched google.
1. I chose to do a project about "Desperate Housewives". I am a wife and a mother and value my family in the highest regards. Even though I do enjoy watching television shows for entertainment, good values and morals are lacking. Television, Hollywood, media, the population in general seems to portray "housewives" in a manner that makes their jobs seem glamorous and easy. These tv mothers and wives have the perfect figures, hair and make-up at all times. They seem to make very bad choices and partake in never-ending plots of vengeance or some other alterior motives. They never seem to have to pay the consequences for their bad choices. So I have decided to do my art project exhibiting "regular housewives" that do not have nannies or housekeepers and that work hard for their families, no matter how unglamerous the task may be.
ReplyDelete2. My project, if it works out, will be an interactive piece. It will have pieces that the audience can touch, move around, and interchange with each other. My inspiration was a conglomeration of my original idea with the expertise of Mrs. Specht(Thank You). I am working on putting all the pictures to create a background for now.
3. I have done other research besides the pictures of "housewives". I have looked for pictures of houses for backgrounds. I have also researched different types of paper dolls. For inspiration, I have also studied the dictionary for the meanings of "desperate".
1.)I have chosen the subject that i have because, I wanted to show the diffrent views of a happy home and a broken home.
ReplyDelete2.)I have found the insperation from my own life, and other peoples lives around me, and i found the clipart work from google.com
3.)Other research that i have done would be talking with some of my friends about their home life(which they came from the opposite kind of home that i did), and get their point of view of what that home life is, and how it is different from my own.
1. I chose my subject because I am very afraid about the effects of not having family values, and what they can cause. So I try to do everything so that wont happend.
ReplyDelete2. My inspiration is my family. Sometimes you have to see what can harm your family and you so it wont.
3. Google, other websites and articles...
1. I chose my subject because I have noticed that a lot of families no longer eat together or spend any time together at all really, they are all off doing their own thing. I'm still not sure if this is good or bad, but it is a major change in how things work today compared to the 1900s.
ReplyDelete2. My inspiration for the artwork I am doing comes mainly from what I hear from friends. It really shows some times when someone says they have to go to eat with their family and everyone gives them a funny look. I decided to use a digital artwork because I work with and enjoy computers, and it also allows me to be creative without being able to draw.
3. Most of my research consists of just asking friends and watching some of the more recent TV shows. I also looked up what some others thought about the subject and read a few articles about that.
1. I chose my topic basically because of personal experience and I know how a family torn apart may seem contradictory to family values but the ones that remain learn that true meaning. Although this experience is undesired, it makes them stronger and love each other no matter what circumstance.
ReplyDelete2. You probably found this same technique in other artworks but colors that are light and considered "good" are for subjects that are innocent and everything else that's evil or villainous are darker and consuming, so the family conquers these things that surround them.
3. Observing the situation at hand
