DEADLINE EXTENDED to noon on Friday October 8:
For this blog assignment, you will try your hand at the Critique Process we learned in class today. Go to the website "Deviant Art" and search through the artworks. The cool thing about the artworks on this website is that you can search my the type of artwork and even contact the artist if you feel led! THIS WEEK I want you to find an artwork in which LINE is the main character in the artwork. You will make a NEW POST here on the blog, insert the artwork you have chosen, then give a full critique (you can list, complete sentences are not required...yet :-). IF YOU WERE NOT IN CLASS ON TUESDAY, read Mrs. Specht's comment below.
End Of The Line by '18

Description: End of the... is a black and white photo of a train station. There are various people throughout the station awaiting destinations.
Analysis: Line is the main character in this artwork. There are different varieties of lines that create texture and add depth in this photo. This photo also has contrasting values of greys, whites, and blacks; which create color texture.
Interpretation: I think this picture shows how everyone has a destination, even though most do not know exactly where they are going. You can see people at terminals, but cannot see where they are headed.
Judgment: I think the photo is a good representation of what life really is. Its people coming in contact with each other for a period of time, and then moving on. We all take different paths. I love this photo!
I don't remember how to become a contributor to your blog so I made my own and posted it there.

ReplyDeleteLiving between the lines
ReplyDeletehttp://gilad.deviantart.com/art/Living-between-the-lines-41641277?q=boost:popular+lines&qo=18
Description: Large windows, bright lights, chair, person, tile floor.
Analysis: The main character in this artwork is line. The lines of the window to the outside take up most of the space. The negative space has been removed an you can also see the reflective property of the tile, which is also demonstrating lines.
Interpretation: The high contrast makes the lines more prominent. The tiles also have lines drawing the attention to the center, not the man sitting.
Judgement: The picture shows patience or maybe the emptiness at perhaps an airport..? It demonstrates patience. Whether its patience to wait for family to arrive or for a plane to take you to your family or some sort of business. It could also demonstrate emptiness. There is nobody else there but the one person.
You need to send Mrs. Specht the email address you use to LOG IN to Blogger (not just as a follower) then check your email and accept the invitation from Blogger to Join "Specht's Art Appreciation." THEN you can create a "NEW POST" and, from there, follow the directions given in class last Thursday.
