Shelby Suggs- Art 1301

Description- Green clean grass, white fluffy dog, black wet nose, pink tongue, white teeth, dog sitting down looking at the owner, obedient.
Analysis- Contrast of color- green/white, lines and texture from the hair, grass, and wet nose.
Interpretation- This picture is cute and reminds me of my animals. Every obedient and willing to please and make you happy. The dog looks as if it's waiting to play!
Judgement- I love this picture, that is why I decided to pick this picture. I love animals so this picture stood out to me from the contrast in colors and textures.

HOMEWORK #5

DEADLINE EXTENDED to noon on Friday October 8:

For this blog assignment, you will try your hand at the Critique Process we learned in class today. Go to the website "Deviant Art" and search through the artworks. The cool thing about the artworks on this website is that you can search my the type of artwork and even contact the artist if you feel led! THIS WEEK I want you to find an artwork in which LINE is the main character in the artwork. You will make a NEW POST here on the blog, insert the artwork you have chosen, then give a full critique (you can list, complete sentences are not required...yet :-). IF YOU WERE NOT IN CLASS ON TUESDAY, read Mrs. Specht's comment below.

HOMEWORK #4

A lot of the vocabulary (Elements of Art and Principles of Design) we are learning about are used/known in other areas outside of the fine arts (painting, drawing, sculpture). Post a comment here listing AT LEAST 5 examples EACH of other places you have heard the words "line", "texture", and "contrast" used. TRY YOUR BEST NOT TO REPEAT answers from your classmates!

HOMEWORK #3

This is a test of your creativity and ability to use the Creative Process. ON TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 21 you will need to bring in the finished product of your assignment. THERE BLOG COMPONENT is the leave a comment explaining how you used the Creative Process - 1. Inspiration, 2. Research, 3. Practice, 4. Creation, 5. Evaluation!

I want each of you to take 1 sheet of regular paper (blank printer paper or lined notebook paper - your choice!) and create a work of art! REMEMBER that a work of art is something that has a strong IDEA behind it and is STIMULATING! The final product could fall under Fine Art, Craft, of Design. You can use any art tool you want - a pencil, markers, paint, found objects, a camera, a computer program, etc.

REMEMBER TO BRING THE FINISHED PRODUCT WITH YOU TO CLASS ON TUESDAY! NO LATE ASSIGNMENTS WILL BE ACCEPTED! If you are not in class, you MUST get the artwork to me before the beginning of Thursday's class. YOU WILL NOT BE GRADED ON YOUR ART SKILLS BUT ON HOW YOU USED THE CREATIVE PROCESS.

HOMEWORK #2

DUE TUESDAY Sept. 14 BEFORE CLASS:
Pick one day between now and Tuesday. Throughout the day, carry a little notebook with you or use the "Notepad" app on your cell phone to record the art objects you come in contact with throughout the day. Don't just let it be an after thought - purposely look around you wherever you are and take note of the forms of FINE ARTS, CRAFT, and DESIGN you see. Enter that list of art objects here along with WHERE you saw the object and what CATEGORY it would fit in based on today's class discussion.
